Canadair Jet

Since 1992 the Canadair Regional Jet has belonged to the Lufthansa fleet. The 50-seater plane has been constructed specially for flights within Europe which have only few passengers. It was the first plane of its class and the jet of the Canadian firm “Canadair” was provided with two steel engines (General Electric CF34-3A1) and also has the registration for the “all-weather operating permit CAT 111a”. This means that even in bad weather regular flights can be guaranteed. It has a long range of approx. 1,500 km and a speed of 850 km/h, with a maximal flight height of about 12,000 m and therefore the Canadair Jet offers the efficiency and comfort of larger jets while making it possible for Lufthansa to offer time-saving non-stop connections within Europe.

The comfort of the passengers was also taken into consideration with the interior arrangements: the seats provide a great deal of leg room -the space between the seats being 79 cm. The twin kitchens make warm meals in the board service possible. Thanks to modern technology, not only fuel consumption and harmful chemical emission are kept very low, as is also the noise level within and outside the cabin.

The length of the plane is 26,95 m, its wing-span 21,44 m. Meanwhile 30 Canadair Regional Jets fly for Lufthansa.
